Mansion 1886 has officially entered an exciting new chapter, marked by its Grand Reopening under the new ownership of Rick and Libby Stumler. The transformation of this beloved historic venue in New Albany, Indiana, has been nothing short of remarkable, blending timeless elegance with modern sophistication.
The renovations, which began with a vision to honor the building’s storied past while enhancing its functionality for today’s events, were showcased at the recent Grand Reopening event, where community members, engaged couples, and event professionals gathered to celebrate the Mansion’s future.

When Rick and Libby Stumler took ownership of Mansion 1886, they immediately set their sights on revitalizing the property while respecting its historical roots. The mansion, built in 1886, has long been a symbol of New Albany’s rich history, and the Stumlers were committed to preserving that legacy while enhancing the venue to meet the demands of modern-day celebrations. The result is a beautifully restored venue, perfect for weddings, corporate events, and private celebrations, that blends historical charm with modern amenities.
A Memorable Open House
The Grand Reopening event was a huge success, with a fantastic turnout from local community members, engaged couples, and event planners who came out to witness the stunning renovations firsthand. Guests were thrilled to explore the newly developed Bridal Suite and renovated venue, with reactions to the new Bridal Suite and refinished Ballroom ceiling being nothing short of amazing. The transformation of the ceiling, which once had a darker, moodier vibe, now brightens and elevates the entire ballroom, changing the overall atmosphere of the space.
Our Bridal Suite was a particular highlight, with guests commenting on how it provided the perfect space for brides and their bridal parties to relax and prepare for the big day. The suite features a spacious area for hair and makeup, comfortable seating, and soft, flattering lighting, creating a peaceful retreat to make cherished memories before walking down the aisle.
A Special Moment
One of the most touching moments of the day came when Jeremy and Dana Conder, a couple who had been married 10 years to the day, joined us for the Grand Reopening celebration. To make the occasion even more memorable, they danced to their first dance song right in the Ballroom where they had celebrated their wedding a decade earlier. This beautiful gesture reminded us all of the lasting memories a venue like Mansion 1886 can help create for couples and their loved ones.
